First FO Of The Year
With the weather edging on bitterly cold here in Minnesota I decided to knit myself something warm and cozy! It is just a simple garter stitch headband with an added flower.
I love quick little projects like this that make me feel like I am really getting something done! I knit the headband and flower all while watching Thor for the first time on netflix! (Seriously why did I wait so long to see that movie? Thor shirtless? Perfection.)
It was actually knit from my hand dyed, hand spun yarn! This is actually my first project knit from any of my hand spun. Much like watching floor I have no idea why I waited so long to knit with my own yarn. It is crazy to think that almost every step of the way I was working with the fiber for this headband. I have a ton of odds and ends of hand spun that may end up being made into these headbands. Check out my Ravelry page for more details on the headband and the pattern I used for the flower.

Isn't that such a satisfying moment when you get to knit something so pretty out of your handspun? I really like the flower in particular, not only does it look great in combination with the color of your yarn but it looks prettier than most of the other knit flowers I see (but that could be because of my love for spirals)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing how your handspun knit up into that lovely headband!
ReplyDeleteThat headband is cute! It's got to be great to actually make something out of your handspun. I've only just started spinning so I don't have that achievement just yet!
ReplyDeleteYay for FOs - and with your handpainted handspun! Awesome! :) Your headband is just gorgeous, and I love how the flower turned out.
ReplyDeleteThat's so gorgeous! I swear, before I even read that you had spun it I was thinking "Wow, where did she get that yarn, it's lovely!" so go you with your, gorgeous project all around!
ReplyDeleteIts really cute! And super special being your handspun!
