Happy New Year!!!
I can't sleep so I figured I would take the time to wish all of you a wonderful new year! Last year I wrote a few Knitting goals for 2012 and I am actually surprised by how many I met. So I thought why not do that again this year but add some spinning goals into the mix.
My 2013 Knitting Goals
1. Challenge myself. It seems like such an easy thing to do but for me once I learn how to do something I just want to keep doing it. So I want to take risks and work on the patterns that I have been scared to do.
2. I want to work on my color work! I just learned how to do it with my dad's hat but it has just opened to the door of so much more I want to do!
3. I want to finish at least one project a month!
4. Also I want to knit with some of my hand-spun. I keep spinning all this yarn and then tell myself to wait until I am a better knitter. But I am a good knitter and it's time to knit with it!
My Spinning Goals
1. Clean, card, and spin my sheep fleece! I bought a whole sheep fleece before I left for winter break and I am hoping to get it washed before I go back to college. (I know slim chances) But I really want to be able to say I went from fleece to FO all by myself.
2. I want to try spinning with some new fibers. I have stuck with merino, and just plan wool for so long I think it's time to branch out into something new.
3. To spin at least four days a week. When I am at college it is really easy to let my spinning wheel hide away under my bed, I forget how therapeutic it really is to spin.
This has been a huge year for me, I graduated and moved, my mom got married, and I went to college for the first time. Looking back my life has changed so much in the past 12 months and I honestly can't wait to see what has yet to come. Even when it comes to knitting I have grown, I started the year still being scared to try new things and now I am writing my own hat patterns and learning how to fair-isle knit. This past year was also the year I learned how to spin and some how it has grown into me having a wheel and drum carder and I am not sure how that all happened.
I hope you guys had a great night and I hope you all have the year you want to have in 2013!

Seeing all your accomplishments in 2012 is certainly an indicator of all good things to come in 2013!
ReplyDeleteZoey, I loved reading your post today! Your blog is so wonderful, and I'm so excited to see you meet your goals (and they're AWESOME goals!) in 2013. Happy New Year!! :)
ReplyDeleteCollege is such an exciting time, enjoy it! And good luck with all your fiber goals.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a full year for you, and you've done so well! Not everyone can handle their first semester, congrats! Wonderful goals, I'm very interested to hear more about the fleece washing, I received a little bit of unprocessed/unwashed mohair recently and so I'll be experimenting with it too! Happy new years!
