Day Three: The Day of Finishing

On the third day of tour my true love gave to me...

Okay sorry but I have been watching Harry Potter all day and I completely love the Christmas scenes in it. I have been super busy spinning singles but also plying all of this yarn that I have let sit around for ages. Including the unicorn rainbow stuff that I got with my wooden drop spindle. I tried my hand at Navajo plying it and it is safe to say I won't be trying that again soon. While some plied and soft other parts are over-spun and brittle feeling. It only amounted to about 32 yards of strange-ness.

Next is the yarn I am most proud of currently, it was hand-dyed by me all those months ago. I spun it into two separate singles and then plied them normally on my CD drop spindle. I got 115 yards of heavy worsted weight yarn. Once I washed and whacked it it turned into this soft lush yarn that I can't believe I spun. There are only a few thinner spots and over all I even got the plying pretty even. Once in a while it is coming apart because I didn't get enough twist into it. I am just completely in love with this yarn, which is funny since I originally hated the color so much.

Finally right now I am working on spinning the bright purple and pink pencil roving I purchased at BeeLighted. Which now has me posing a question... do you ply pencil roving or do you spin it thicker? Does it even matter? Hope you all are having a wonderful tour, and keep spinning!

  1. That is some super beautiful handspun! I'll let you in on a little secret, I struggle with Navajo plying too and I don't know why. I'm in love with that rainbow skein!
