So I have actually had these off the spindle for a while but finally got around to washing them! I have to admit to myself that I love yarn way more than I love knitting. Is that normal? My mom keeps threatening to put me in a Yarn-holics anonymous group. Can you imagine how that would go?
Me: Hello my name is Zoey, I am 18 and already have a stash that I could never knit in my whole life.
Crowd: Hello Zoey
Me: I just can't help it. I mean the feel of alpaca in my hands, and smooshing hanks of merino in my hands makes me just want to run away and live in a cave made of yarn!
Anyway I will stop being weird now and get to the point! So first up is what I have so lovingly named the Alpaca yarn from hell. you may remember it from here. So it turned out to be about 54 yards of fluffy joy once I was done with it. Though I am not sure how soon I will go and work on more of that evil carding.
Next there is the pink and purple yarn that I spun up eons ago. It was kind of pain in the fact I had never worked with an angora blend fiber before but the end yarn is so soft and yummy! The fiber was Bruised Ego. You should all go check out her stuff because she has some amazing fibers!
Finally is the yarn I am most proud of, and really amazes me that I spun it. It was wool of the andes roving from Knit picks and I have named it Purple People Eater (original right?)
It's so even and purple and perfect I love it and want to cuddle it until I die!
Okay sorry I had a moment there. I am still afraid of plying so I spun it up to be a heavy worsted weight yarn. There are still some really thin spots where I over-drafted (usually because I almost dropped my spindle). I am so craving getting a spinning wheel guys, it is probably one of the things I want most in the world (aside from Josh Hutcherson). For now though I will keep working away on my spindle and pretending I have a plan for all this yarn!
And thank you Lori for the wonderful name for the nameless fiber! It shall forever be Hawaiian sunrise. I think I should just let other people name my fiber, they pick such better names!
XO
Zoey
