Birthdays and Mittens

So yesterday was my sister's birthday and she turned 20 which is so crazy. Because that means I will be 18 soon! I have no idea when we both got this old, seems like a little while ago we were still playing dress up in the basement. So I wanted to make something super special for my sister since it is her 20th birthday and she is no longer a teenager so I knit her a pair of fingerless gloves which was an adventure. I used this super cute pattern called Gradient Mitts it is so cute and easy for someone who has never made something like this. It had very very minor color work with the stripes but I had never done anything where you carry yarn in the back so that was an interesting little learning moment there. They turned out cute, if slightly big, but I am very proud of my first pair of fingerless gloves.
