A Hat Kind of Day

The chunky knit beanie was so cute the first time I had to knit another one. I thought I had enough yarn to knit the small. This size around this one turned out so much better but I ran out of yarn towards the end and it was a little short for me. My mother was  happy to steal the hat and I was happy to let her keep it. She truly is a wonderful model.

I think the key to this hat may just be knitting it flat like the pattern calls for. I hate the idea of having to seam a hat together. Maybe next time. Now back to Christmas knitting.

Funny Way Life Works

So the play is finally over and it is kind of a bittersweet feeling. I am glad to finally have a chance to breathe and catch up on the homework I have been neglecting for months. At the same time I am going to miss my cast, we really became a family and it feels weird not seeing them everyday. We sold out all three shows and last minute even added a fourth one, which is completely crazy and we never do. A lot of strange things happened during the play, good strange things. I met a guy during the play and it is in the new and excitingly awkward stage right now. In part because I am just a horrible awkward person.

So play over, new fun things happening, and then today I get the most exciting bit yet. I got an e-mail from Minnesota State University, letting me know I have been accepted! I am so excited and I just keep like randomly dancing when I remind myself that I have finally gotten in there.

On the knitting side of things I finally started my first Christmas knitting present, it is a blanket knit with this gorgeous blue yarn I got at Micheals. It is with the square pattern of the other blanket but since I am using size 13 needles I am only making it four squares across. I have yet to take pictures but promise to post those, and some from the play later.

I don't know what else to say, so... RUBBER DUCK!

Amazing People!

So last night I had job orientation at Old Navy (a moment to dance around my room). Okay so I get home today and had to very exciting things in the mail, I lied three. My voter registration sheet! And two RAKs one was this adorable hand made card and beautiful green stitch markers.

The next came from an amazing lady in Illinois who gave me enough yarn to last forever!

And to add to this amazingness the Micheals around here had a sale and I got a new pair of knitting needles, seven skeins of yarn for 18 dollars! My play finally shows this weekend so I am not sure how much I will be on. I promise next time I will show you this gorgeous shawl I am attempting to knit (fingers crossed). Have a great rest of the week!

Two Posts, One Day!

I know crazy, they are even withing a few minutes of each other. I just realized that there is so much I wanted to tell you about and forgot amidst my whining. My amazing friend Madison gave me one of the best birthday presents ever. (Late, but not as late as my elephant to her.)

It has so many beyond cute patterns and the one I can't wait to knit is this little owl Errol
Isn't he as cute as can be! I am thinking of knitting one for Madison for Christmas, though she always wanted gloves. Maybe one or both of these things. Who knows!

Also I am so excited to say I re-organized (correction; organized for the first time) my yarn! Three cute colored boxes from Homedepot, and my ball winder later... TADA!

Tweets, Geeks, and Thinks.

I realized I have been blogging for about two months and have posted very little actually about me. I have no decided that I am going to post three times a week. (Or try, we will see how long this lasts) I have no idea if this will make me write more, less or just ramble about stupid things. Which I am pretty sure if anyone out there even reads my blogs already thinks I do.

Ignoring the point I am pretty sure I have two readers one of which is my best friend so I am not sure if she counts. (Love you Liz) I am going to ramble about life. So my play is over this weekend, our first show is Thursday, our last on Sunday. I am partly excited to be done but I am also going to miss getting to spend time with these amazing dorky people. Nanowrimo also started this past week. This is my fourth year doing it and hopefully my third year winning it. I am writing about a superhero Harry Potter spoof, so far I am already behind and confused as to the point of my story.

Finally! I have pictures of those adorable birds I was talking about. If anyone reading my blog is anything like me, you just scroll down the page looking at pictures. So here you go!

Birthdays and Mittens

So yesterday was my sister's birthday and she turned 20 which is so crazy. Because that means I will be 18 soon! I have no idea when we both got this old, seems like a little while ago we were still playing dress up in the basement. So I wanted to make something super special for my sister since it is her 20th birthday and she is no longer a teenager so I knit her a pair of fingerless gloves which was an adventure. I used this super cute pattern called Gradient Mitts it is so cute and easy for someone who has never made something like this. It had very very minor color work with the stripes but I had never done anything where you carry yarn in the back so that was an interesting little learning moment there. They turned out cute, if slightly big, but I am very proud of my first pair of fingerless gloves.

The First Of Many [Hopefully]

How do you really start off your first post? Should I say some sort of hello? Well hello there world if you are out there reading this well my best wishes to you. I have never really been in on this blogging boat before but I wanted a way to show people what I have been up to knit wise lately.

For a little background knowledge I will let you in on a few personal details. Incase you didn't realize I am a teenager, currently 17 years of age. Crazy I know, what teenager knits anymore? In February I decided to pick up some needles and had a family friend teach me the basics. Since then I have knitted eight scarves [all a simple garter stitch], and one cowl. My next great adventure is a tiny knitted dinosaur for my boyfriends birthday. I have to use double pointed needles which scares me pantless. But hopefully since I have now posted it on the world wide web I won't talk myself out of it.

That is all for now I suppose, I really should think of a cute way to end all my posts. Maybe something like All my love, knits, and laughs? No way to cheesy. I will think more on this before I post again. I will also bring pictures next time.
