On the knitting front I have been rather busy. I have now conquered one of my biggest fears which was double pointed needles, they just looked like hell on earth to me. Glaring at me from the packages of five. My best friend Madison wanted something elphanty for her birthday this year, and I set my eyes on knitting her a stuffed animal. I bought the needles and yarn and sat there staring at them for a good week before finally trying to figure it out. Hours of cursing later I finally got the hang of it, and felt like a bad-ass being able to knit with them.
I knitted her this beyond adorable pattern. The pattern it's self I felt had some random quirks and probably was not the smartest thing to try to knit for my first dpns project. It turned out pretty cute! Though I had a bit of a problem sewing her together (See old blogs about my lack of sewing skills) and some of the pellets keep popping out. In the end I decided to nix giving her that one and let her pick out new yarn so I can try take two!
I still had a large amount of yarn left over and I was (am) still on a super bad-ass knitting high, so I found another cute elephant pattern. This one I probably won't ever do again. I knit it in the round and the body went okay, but the feet were tedious, and the ear pattern didn't work right for me. He still turned out pretty cute and his a small present for my mom's fiance John since I wouldn't sell him the big one.
I will try to write more often but between school and knitting this next elephant I may struggle time wise. For now though enjoy these super cute elephants I knitted!
